| 授業概要 Course Description |
「歌舞伎」は、世界に誇る日本の伝統芸能ですが、420年間、常に観客を喜ばせ感動させるために工夫を重ね進化し続けているエンタテイメントでもあります。観たことのない人は、古臭く難しいという印象を持ってしまうかもしれませんが、少しだけ勉強してから観れば、これほど解りやすく楽しめるものはありません。また、歌舞伎には時代も国も超える普遍性を持ったテーマを持った演目が数多くあります。外国人学生はもちろん、これから留学したり世界に出て行って活躍したりしようという日本の学生には、歌舞伎を通して日本のことを知ってほしいと思います。自国の文化を知らずに世界のことはわかりません。
学生はこの授業や観劇を通して歌舞伎という日本の伝統文化についての基本的知識を得るばかりでなく、自分のルーツとアイデンティティを発見し、またそれを外国の友人に紹介できるようになります。そのためにも授業は基本的に英語で行います。
基本的には毎週金曜日4時限に対面で行います。講師が蓄えてきたリソースを使って、基本的な知識から歌舞伎をより楽しむためのknow howを伝授し、歌舞伎に描かれた日本人としてのアイデンティティを一緒に考えてみたいと思います。さらに、より実践的な学びも大切にしたいので、受講生の中から希望者を募り、歌舞伎役者の中村橋吾さんによる歌舞伎の所作や立ち廻りのワークショップや講師本人による三味線のワークショップ、また歌舞伎座や国立劇場での観劇に参加する機会を設けたい、と考えています。The lecture provides the students with knowledge of Kabuki, which will enable them to appreciate the actual performances and to introduce kabuki to the foreign friends. The lecture will be held face to face at 4th period every Friday. Workshops of Kabuki movement and of musical instruments can be held. Also, we will go to Kabukiza Theater and National Theater to watch Kabuki live.

この授業の目標は、学生がこの授業を通して、歌舞伎の基本知識や特徴を学び、プレゼンテーションやディスカッションを通して考えることです、また歌舞伎について外国の友人に説明できるようになることも目標とします。また日本人としてのアイデンティティとは何かを考えることも目標とします。
The students will learn basic knowledge and characteristics of Kabuki and will do presentation and discussion on them. They will be able to explain its charm to foreign friends. The students will think of the characteristics of Japanese culture and its people as well.

基本的には毎週金曜日4時限に対面授業をします。ManabaのResourceに毎回の授業内容をUPしておきますから、予習や復習に使ってください。最初の授業には必ず出席してください。レポートや宿題はManabaに〆切厳守で提出してください。レポートについてのコメントは、次の授業までにManabaのコメントに書くか、次の授業で口頭で行います。受講生の中から希望者を募り、歌舞伎役者の中村橋吾さんによる歌舞伎の所作や立ち廻りの対面のワークショップや講師本人による対面の三味線のワークショップ、また歌舞伎座や国立劇場での観劇に参加する機会を設けたいと考えています。授業計画に示した課題提出の演目は、実際に観た演目について書いても構いません。
Basically, the lecture will be held face to face at 4th period every Friday. Please check the Resource on Manaba for pre-study and review. Do not miss the first class. Submit the papers and homework to Manaba by the due time. I’ll write the comments on papers by the following class or do it in the following class. Workshops of Kabuki movement and of musical instruments will be held. Also, we will go to Kabukiza Theater and National Theater to watch Kabuki live. The subjects of the papers can be altered to the Kabuki plays we watch in the theaters.

授業は基本英語で行います。（必要と判断したときは日本語も併用します。）歌舞伎観劇をする場合、チケットは1200円～5500円ほどしますが、その価値は十分あります。ISP留学生は、大学から各々学期ごとに9000円を上限としてチケット代の70％の助成を受けられます。
Lecture is in English. (If necessary, Japanese can be used.) Tickets for live viewing of Kabuki cost you 1200～5500 yen or so but they are truly worthwhile. ISP student gets 70% ticket fee grant from the university up to 9000yen a semester.
