| 授業概要 Course Description |
We analyze American culture using Chaplin's movies, Film Noirs and Hitchcock's for this semester. Chaplin and Hitchcock are not Americans but made many films depicting Americans of 20th century from their points of views.

We analyze American popular culture, especailly films and musics, from the view points of representation. Through those discussions, we hope, we could consider "What is America," American values and its reality, and culture itself as an inter-text. Students are required to write reports at the end of the semester.

We manage classes with group works with 3 students to join the discussion.
Every class students are required to hand in the reaction paper so that they can write the final reports.
We do have 2 reports to make sure of the discussions in classes.
If you miss 5 classes and more, you will fail.
