授業概要   Course Description How to Write a TV Script: A Guide to Starting Your Career in Television Writing:
Storytelling is how we have made meaning of our world for centuries; TV shows are no different. Television is having a big moment right now, with fantastic series on Netflix, HBO, AMC and so forth, it seems like television writing is the place to be. And why not?
In film, the director is king. But in television, the writer envisions what makes it on screen.
In this course we imagine ourselves as up and coming Television writers and will get to develop our own stories and characters, write scripts, make edits and revisions, and help determine what our own first TV episode looks like through developing a TV pitch deck.
到達目標   Class Goals We will learn the art of writing a TV pilot episode focused on developing skills in prewriting, developing prose and visual documents to outline TV shows, and pitching these ideas with the focus being on completing a TV pilot script in the second term and learn how to enjoy the experience of the medium while becoming more effective writers and communicators.

授業に関する注意事項
Remarks for Class
SCRIPTS AND TV EPISODES
We will read scripts and watch TV pilot episodes as part of class assignments. A good way to improve your screenwriting is to read as many scripts as possible. Immerse yourself in screenplays this semester. Many screenplays are available online at sites such as SimplyScripts.com. They may not always be the final version, but you'll still learn a lot from them.

Because discussions are an important part for the score, attendance will be important.
Manners; cell phone (off), speaking in English (yes), sleeping (no)
教科書   Texts No textbook. Each week I will give you handouts from scripts, TV bible examples, TV shows and texts that you will have to read and discuss for the next class. Screenplays will be provided for you in PDF format to read in your own time. We will read scripts and watch TV pilot episodes as part of class assignments.
