This advanced level course aims to improve students' critical reading, speaking & listening, and thinking skills - in English - through structured English language tasks based on selected fiction texts. Language and cultural awareness is raised through the use of authentic materials.

Remarks for Class |
• Students should check manaba regularly, including before the first class, to check for information and resources for the class.
• All assignments must be completed ON TIME. Assignments are given so that you can properly prepare for class. If you do not complete assignments, you are unlikely to be fully prepared for class.
• All students, regardless of their English language levels, must speak in English at all times. Students are expected to participate actively and enthusiastically.
• No more than two undocumented/unexcused absences are allowed. Absence of over two classes is grounds for failure. Tardiness of three times equals one absence. Tardiness of more than 15 minutes will be counted as an absence. Coming into the classroom late is disruptive. It is also disrespectful of other students and the instructor. Students are expected to be in their seats and ready to begin class when the bell rings.
