| 授業概要 Course Description |
The second semester focuses on enhancing students' reading comprehension, broadening their vocabulary, and developing critical thinking skills. From the start, students set up their Xreading account, a digital platform designed to promote extensive reading. Throughout the course, students engage with compelling topics in the textbook, such as "Great Explorers" and "Identity," and work through units addressing "Facing Change" and "Fact or Fake?" to encourage thoughtful analysis and reflection. Key reading strategies, including effective note-taking, argument analysis, and inference drawing, are emphasized, along with efforts to expand students' academic vocabulary. The course also incorporates the SQ3R strategy into various supplementary materials, such as articles, journals, and chapters from novels, to improve students' reading skills for academic purposes. Two quizzes assess AWL vocabulary and reading skills. Finally, students will present a book report based on their analysis of a book of their choice. This course is designed to equip students with the critical skills necessary for academic advancement and lifelong learning.

To complete this course successfully, students must participate actively and attend all sessions. If a student is absent and misses any lecture or assignment, they will be responsible for making up the missed work. Access to a computer is mandatory for this course. Additionally, students are required to have a computer and should familiarize themselves with Google Sheets and Documents.
