授業概要   Course Description The semester will be divided into four three-class cycles. Typically in the first class, we will be using the textbook as an introduction to one genre of writing (for example story-telling or writing summaries) and its related features (structure, vocabulary or grammar). In the second class, you will be applying these techniques to create your own essays. Finally, in the third class, we will move further from the book and you will have the chance to practice your editing skills, respond to your classmates’ writing or apply the techniques to an area of your own interest.
到達目標   Class Goals You will explore a wide variety of ways to express yourselves in written English. Some of the areas we cover will be academic (e.g. how to reference sources), while others will be less so (for example writing descriptions). However, all the topics are designed to help you to become more creative and confident writers, while also preparing you for future studies in the third and fourth years.
