| 授業概要 Course Description |
The course will focus on inspiration as well as the techniques of evocative, compelling writing across various literary genres including point of view, concrete detail, lyricism, image, voice, tone, structure, dialogue, and characterization. We will pay close attention to the mechanics of writing, read a range of short stories, and develop strategies for careful close reading via class discussion and in-class exercises, and conduct a workshop where students have an opportunity to share their own work. Various topics will be discussed and analyzed. Students, as future leaders, will not only acquire an advanced English skills but also be confident in learning and presenting academically. Students are expected to participate actively in every activity, and to make use of all the resources around them to get ready for each class. Feel free to recommend any books, articles, or audio-visual materials that can supplement the topics examined in each class.
