| 授業概要 Course Description |
By the end of this course, you will be able to do the following: 1) Express yourself verbally in English regarding your personal life, family, hobbies, goals, and wants; 2) Explain large numbers in English for telephone numbers, addresses, and money; 3) Express yourself in written English regarding your personal life, family, hobbies, goals, and wants; 4) Ask a native speaker of English for help at a restaurant, train station, at an airport, and for directions.
The course will also include Extensive Reading using Graded Readers. Students will be expected to do both oral and written reports. Also, extensive listening will be a component of the course (e.g. TED Talks) and verbal reports on a subject of the student’s choice (e.g. a movie in English).

Each lesson is worth 5 participation points total (75%). During class, points will be added for 1) asking questions in English, 2) class participation during pair-work and group activities. Points will be deducted for 1) speaking in Japanese; 2) looking at your cell phone; 3)being late. Finally, you need to get at least half of the answers correct on the final exam (25%．
