授業概要   Course Description To equip the students with the fundamental knowledge and skills in conceptualizing and creating specific media formats and contents. For every activity, the instructor will give an overview of the theories, principles and practices related to visual media methods.
Combining images, words/texts, audio, infographics, and art works, this course will teach the students how to create short films/documentaries, photo-stories/essays, sound slides, and multimedia research/contents.

Related activities and topics include basic scriptwriting, interviewing, photo and video editing, subtitling, photo/video journaling, typography, page and poster designing. Auxiliary topics also include data citation and ethics in media production.
到達目標   Class Goals By the end of the course, the student should have created and presented:
1). An essay or two on an agreed topic (page-designed and illustrated with art works and photos).
2). A photo story on a specific research project.
3. A sound slide presentation of a research project.
4. A 5 to 10 minutes documentary film; a film poster.
5. A multimedia project.

→ Conceptualizing the first application of photography in a research project or in a media content.

Example
Research subject/topic: Refugees in Japan - a Sri Lankan living in Japan for two decades and fighting for refugee status.
Method: Photography + Text. In a dojo, take their pictures while he does aikido.
Final output: A 1000-word text + 6-12 photos.
