This course is designed for total beginners or those who have only studied Japanese for a very short time.
Students will learn
A: Basic expressions to interact in Japanese under some familiar everyday topics (oneself, food, daily life, etc.) or in areas of immediate need (traveling, shopping, etc.). 【Knowledge】
B: How to interact or accomplish their purposes in Japanese using their limited knowledge of Japanese most effectively. 【Performance】
Also, students will have an opportunity to

授業に関する注意事項
Remarks for Class |
* Students are required to attend the class regularly and participate actively in all class activities.
* No credit will be given to those who miss more than 1/3 of all the classes.
* In principle, there will be no makeup quiz or presentation.
* Assignments (Reflection sheet, Daily Habits/Final Goals sheet and others) will be given in every class to make your learning more effective. Since we put emphasis on your autonomous learning, it is essential to work on those assignments throughout the week.
* All the assignments should be handed in by the due date and time. If you hand in an assignment late, the maximum possible score for the assignment will be 80%.
* Students will be given feedback from instructor for all the assignments. Some of the feedback will be given by email and will need to be checked before the next class.
* A vocabulary quiz for the previous lesson(s) will be given at the beginning of every class.
* Food and cell phone use are not permitted in class.
* The schedule and course content may be adjusted depending on the circumstances.
