| 授業概要 Course Description |
This is a course on the ethnographic study of Japanese popular culture (hereafter JPC). Significant concepts, theories, analytical viewpoints and approaches to the sociocultural meanings of popular expressive behaviors in contemporary and historic Japan will be introduced in reference to prominent cases of Japanese trendy phenomena.

※ IMORTANT: Students who are eager and humble to learn more about the industrial mechanism of JPC in the light of social scientific perspectives at the same time as dedicating themselves to productive class discussions and extracurricular field surveys are most welcome to take this class! Those who are primarily trying to kill time or hangout with friends for some regrettable creditability are encouraged NOT to take this intellectually challenging course!
