| 授業概要 Course Description |
This class deals with various global historical issues ranging from politics to culture, sometimes using basic IR(International Relations) theories. We will cover such current issues as US foreingn policy, Middle Easgern crisis, Russia, PKO in Africa, the rise of China, resurging nationalism and gender and minority questions from global historical perspectives. Cultural issues such as art and music (high culture or popular) is also welcome. Student contribution by way of asking questions and making comments is obligatory. Also, students are asked to give their own presentation on their preferred topics/current issues.

We will often use latest international news available on the internet. Try to check current issues EVERY DAY however briefly. Google any terms you are not familier with. Basic knowledge in world history and current issues is required.

class participation 40%, presentation 60%. Students should be aware of the university standard of "presentation" which should be more than just an orderly display of information but has to be an original argument/interpretation.
