授業概要   Course Description Even within an increasingly globalized world we are surrounded by representations of people from other cultures. For example, in Europe and North America, Asian women are frequently portrayed using a limited set of stereotypes based on their gender and race, and described as submissive, lustful, or opportunistic. We will explore the origins of the figure of the subjugated East Asian female, the image of the geisha, the practice of footbinding, and the historical/mythical figure of Mulan to understand how misconceptions have been shaped, perpetuated, and reinforced.

Students are required to enroll in BOTH KCCUL202 Contemporary Global Issues A and KCCUL203 Contemporary Global Issues B. You must enroll in Section B to take Section A.
