授業に関する注意事項
Remarks for Class
International Law A (KCPOL103/KC212) is recommended, but not required. While there are no absolute pre-requisites for this course, the case readings are not easy. Students should be prepared to spend time reading, and at times re-reading cases as required. The graded written assignments (case briefs) are based on these readings. As no prior knowledge of law is presumed, we will be reading and analyzing, on average, one case over the course of two weeks. The class will be conducted using lectures, group discussion, and occasional exercises. Students will also need access to the Internet in order to access the cases, treaties, and other readings.
教科書   Texts The course focuses on the reading of judicial cases (or excerpts from cases) to demonstrate how legal issues are resolved by courts applying international law. All case readings will be uploaded on the class website. Students are expected to read weekly assignments ahead of the session for which it is assigned.
参考書   Reference Books Occasional readings from Klabbers, International Law, Cambridge University Press, 3rd ed. and Armstrong, Farrell and Lambert, International Law and International Relations, Cambridge University Press, 2nd ed.
