The goal of this course is not limited to developing specific skills but also includes development of your ability and dispositions to recognize and work with differences—differences in attitudes, behaviors, thinking, communicative styles—so that you develop global competencies that are important for the future workplace.
We believe that by going beyond the classroom experience to participate in an organization where you will work with people living in Japan, you will acquire a deeper understanding of both your own and other ways of thinking and doing.
The university community, schools, and corporations which invite you for the internship will also benefit from working with you for it is expected that you will make a positive contribution toward individual and organizational development in various ways.
In sum, as with other courses in the Global Studies Program, this internship course reinforces your global perspective and leadership and communication skills. Through this internship, you will also develop organizational, communication, presentation, and management skills.
This is one of the signature “experiential” courses in the Department of International Studies.
